Instruments that include pH probes, turbidity standards, reference solutions, and those using water as a storage medium, can all suffer irreparable harm if frozen. This damage isn't limited to the equipment itself; it can also lead to lost billable time, reduced productivity, and potentially hefty repair or replacement costs.

Such damages can occur during transit — while the equipment is in the back of a truck, or even when stored in a vehicle overnight. Whether the equipment is owned by your company or rented from Geotech, it's essential to protect it against freeze damage.

Preventive Measures:

To help you avoid such scenarios, here are some preventive measures:

• Indoor Storage: Always aim to store equipment indoors whenever possible. This simple step can go a long way in preventing freeze damage.
• Air Transit: When shipping equipment, opt for air transit over ground transportation. It reduces the time your equipment spends in potentially freezing conditions. Also, exclude weekends from your shipping schedule to prevent the equipment from sitting idle in a truck.
• Hand Warmers: While they only last a few hours, shipping with hand warmers can provide temporary protection for your equipment, especially during overnight shipments.
• Prompt Returns: Encourage clients to return rented equipment promptly and preferably overnight. Remember, our rental policy is in effect, and any damage, including freeze damage, is the renter's responsibility.
• Troubleshooting: When troubleshooting equipment issues, bear in mind that most equipment will function normally as long as the ambient temperature is above freezing.
