However, it's worth noting that regulatory agencies initially took a more cautious approach by banning all items containing one or more PFAS compounds. Over time, they have started to approve specific materials and items for environmental sampling, but there remains a degree of hesitation in using PFA or PTFE due to the presence of the element fluorine.
